Ordering
- How does ordering work?
- Take the 50-second quiz or pick a design, choose your size and width, and check out. We mail you a foam impression kit. You press each foot into the foam, close the box and mail it back — shipping is free both ways. Your pair is shaped to your impression in our own workshop and is at your door in under 10 business days from the day your impression arrives — or a full refund.
- Do I need a prescription or a podiatry visit?
- No. EvenStep custom orthotics are sold directly and made from your impression and your quiz answers. If a clinician has named your condition or written a prescription, you can email it with your order number and the workshop will follow it. Severe, sudden or worsening pain still deserves a clinician's look first.
- Can I reorder without a new impression?
- Yes. We keep your impression and its digital model on file, so a reorder or a pair for a different shoe type is $139 and skips the kit entirely. Ask us to delete the impression any time and we will.
Fit & sizing
- How do I know they will fit?
- Your orthotics are shaped from an impression of your own feet, not a size chart, and the shell is set to your weight band. We confirm the length from the impression and trim the pair to the shoe type you told us about. If anything is off, a remake is free inside the 180-day guarantee.
- Which shoes will these fit?
- Full-length designs fit sneakers, walking and running shoes, work boots and most lace-ups; remove the shoe's own insole and slide ours in, trimming along the guide if needed. The three-quarter design is for dress shoes and flats where there is no room for a full insole. Each pair is shaped for one shoe type, which is why a second pair for a different shoe is $139.
- My feet are different sizes. Does that matter?
- No — that is exactly what an impression is for. Each orthotic is made from its own footprint, so a half-size difference, a flatter left arch or a wider right forefoot is built in. Order the size of your larger foot and note the difference in the order comments if you like.
Shipping & timing
- How long until I have my orthotics?
- Under 10 business days from the day we receive your impression — or a full refund. The clock starts the day we receive your impression, not the day you order. The kit ships within 1 business day of your order, mail transit is typically 2–5 days each way, and your finished pair ships with tracking. If your pair has not arrived within 10 business days of your impression reaching our workshop, cancel for a full refund. Every leg is spelled out on the delivery guarantee page.
- Do you ship outside the United States?
- Not yet. We ship free to all fifty states, DC and APO/FPO addresses. International shipping is on the list once the workshop's capacity is proven at home.
Guarantee & returns
- What if they don't work for me?
- Tell us. We remake the pair at no charge, and if you would rather have your money back at any point in the first 180 days after delivery, we refund 100% of the orthotics price with free return shipping. No restocking fee, no shipping deduction, no fee for wear.
Payment, FSA & HSA
- Can I pay with FSA/HSA, or in installments?
- Yes to both. Use your FSA or HSA card at checkout, or pay with any card and submit our itemized receipt to your plan. We don't bill insurance. Pay in 4 with Klarna, Affirm or Afterpay at checkout.
The product
- What's different from a shelf insole?
- A shelf insole is one of three or four shapes chosen to fit millions of feet; it cushions but it cannot hold a heel or contour an arch that isn't its own. A custom orthotic is shaped from an impression of your foot, so the heel cup, arch profile and forefoot relief are yours. If a shelf insole has already solved your problem, keep it — we say so in our guides.
- How long do custom orthotics last?
- The shell typically outlasts several pairs of shoes; the top cover wears first and can be replaced. If your weight, activity or footwear changes a lot, the design may need updating — that is a reorder from your impression on file, not a new kit.
